Shipping Tips
You want your package to reach your clients, friends, and relatives safely, right? Follow along:
Choose the Right Box: You want a box that is strong enough to protect the contents you'll be shipping and large enough to leave space for adequate cushioning. JustShippingSupplies.com offers boxes of various sizes, as well as padded mailers, mailing tubes, and other packing materials, such as anti-static peanuts and anti-static bubble wrap. If you choose a previously-used box, make sure you remove or cross out any old shipping labels. It is imperative that the box be in good shape - no weak spots, gashes, or cracks. Old or new, make sure the box is made of heavy, corrugated cardboard. Thinner boxes, such as most shoe boxes or gift boxes, will not cut the proverbial mustard for shipping.
Protect and Pack: Don't skimp on cushioning material! Anti-static peanuts, anti-static bubble wrap, and anti-static bubble bags work effectively. To avoid shifting, pack items tightly. You also want to make sure the cushioning material covers all sides of the object. If you're shipping several items together, wrap each one separately and provide enough cushioning to prevent movement.
Seal Carefully: This should come as no surprise, so always use tape that is designed for shipping, such as pressure-sensitive tape, nylon-reinforced paper tape, or glass-reinforced pressure-sensitive tape, all of which are available though JustShippingSupplies.com. Make sure you seal the center seams at both the top and the bottom of the box securely. Cover all other seams with tape, and be sure not to leave any open areas. If you plan to insure the package, leave an area free of tape where a postal clerk can stamp "insured."
Do not cut corners by using wrapping paper, string, masking tape, or cellophane tape!
Address Correctly: Play it safe by putting the delivery and return addresses only on one side of the package. Make sure that your address and the address to which you are shipping are accurate and clear! For overseas shipping, include the correct postal codes, city or town, province or state name, and country name. Do not put the shipping label over a seam or closure or on top of sealing tape. To avoid ink smudges, you can place a strip of clear packing tape over the address areas. Mail packages over one pound from your post office.
